Youth Mixed Media: Paper Puppets 🎨✂️
Ages: 8 - 12
Get ready to create, color, cut, and connect! In this imaginative mixed media workshop, young artists will explore the whimsical world of paper puppetry as they design and build their very own movable characters.
Students will begin by dreaming up a character of their own—from curious creatures and silly monsters to animals, imaginary friends, or something completely unexpected! They’ll experiment with drawing, color, pattern, texture, collage, and mixed media techniques as they create the individual pieces that make up their puppet.
Once their designs are complete, students will cut, assemble, and connect the different parts to create an articulated paper puppet with movable limbs and plenty of personality. Along the way, they’ll learn how simple shapes and materials can be transformed into expressive characters while practicing creative problem-solving, fine motor skills, and artistic decision-making.
